3 Reasons Why Fast Food Makes Me Miss Being a Kid

Do you all remember when going to McDonald’s as a kid was a huge victory? Every time I go to the mall my 8 year old niece wants McDonald’s. She loves it. She is on her best behavior if she knows she can get nuggets with sweet and sour sauce. I was the same way as a kid. Now that I am an adult it’s not the same.

Here are my 3 reasons why fast food makes me miss being a kid

1. Eating clean wasn’t a thing. I could eat whatever I wanted and not think about meal prep, calories, and other things. I’m trying to get a grip on this clean eating thing. I didn’t have to really worry about what I ate. I know that at my age now I need to make sure the food I eat is better quality than a quarter pounder. I mean I have to schedule my “cheat days.” That’s not fun.
2. Metabolism? What’s that? This can even apply a few years ago! I miss the days where I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain a pound. I weighed 115lbs well into my 20s and I. ATE. EVERYTHING. Not saying that was good, but I didn’t have to worry about gaining weight because of my fast metabolism. Now I feel like my metabolism operates at the same speed of a turtle.
3. I never felt guilty. I really feel guilty whenever I order fast food. One day I went to Burger King and ordered their bbq bacon cheddar chicken sandwich. It wasn’t as good as it looked lol. So when this happens I feel defeated like this was a waste. I also wonder what happened to my discipline. I shouldn’t feel defeated, but I often do. #DontJudge.
Adulthood ripped the fun out of the joyous trips to McDonald’s, or any fast food place for that matter. I guess because I sometimes over indulge in the food. I don’t eat fast food often, but unfortunately when I do I. Go. In. And after, I feel guilty and defeated because I know I don’t need it. I do however need to minimize my trip to the drive thru even if they happen a few times every few months.
Oh the joy of being a kid again when you don’t have to worry about your metabolism…..
