5 Ways to Add Excitement to Your Week

Happy Monday Loves!
I hope you had an amazing weekend. I know for most people we start getting a case of the “Mondays” around 7pm when you start winding down the night. Most people are probably counting down the days until Friday, because let’s face it, WORK IS HARD. I think this is where some people may enter the quote “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life,” but that doesn’t apply here. I love what I do, but because the year is coming to a close it definitely feels like work.

I always try to find the positive in everything that I do. Sometimes it doesn’t work out like that because I’m human you know. I do however know that I dictate how my week goes. So that means me planning ahead of time what I want to accomplish and do for the week. This includes planning my outfits, meals, and activities. Routines are great to a certain extent, but sometimes you have to ditch them to add a little excitement to your life.

So if you are tired of the same routines every week, here are 5 ways you can add a little excitement.
  1. Get out of the house– How many of us go straight home after work EVERY week (Raises both hands). Ok not every week, but most of the time I just leave work and go home. One of my friends, who I also work with always ask me to hang out sometimes after work and I’m always Patty the Party Pooper unless we go somewhere to do work lol. So instead of going straight home go and have dinner or drinks with a friend or even by yourself. Take yourself to movie. Take a long drive or a different route home. Do something that’s going to keep you from going straight home. Enjoy what your city has to offer and the beautiful weather since it is getting warm.
  2. Try a new recipe One of my co-workers always ask what I have for lunch everyday (I bring my lunch to work 95% of the time). He always says, “What do you have today? Ground turkey, turkey sausage, turkey meatloaf, turkey meatballs or chicken?” I laughed so hard because I keep my meals very simple. Last week I surprised him and had pork chops. He was shocked. So try a new recipe to get out of the same routines for meals.
  3. Do a random act of kindness- You’d be surprised at how a random act of kindness can change your mood. I’m talking more than giving someone a swipe at the train station. Compliment someone on the train, write a thank you note to the person that always gets your coffee order right, bring someone at work lunch. Think of putting a smile on someone else’s face and be a blessing to them.
  4. Plan a trip- It doesn’t have to be a vacation, but plan a trip to relax and recharge. This could be a trip to your local botanical garden to enjoy nature, visit a family member, treat yourself to a one night stay in a fancy hotel. Take a trip to the spa or the salon.
  5. Change up your look- In March I embarked on my “30 Day Dress Challenge.” I didn’t document it like I wanted to, but I wore dresses to work for 30 work days. I switched up my look and I felt great. It was a random idea I had one day and just went with it. What made it even better was that when it was over people noticed. They were asking for the dresses. That definitely gave me a little bit of a confidence boost. Think of ways to switch up your look. I wanted to focus on my wardrobe, you may want to focus on hair and or makeup. Do something different that will surprise you.
Sometimes when life becomes too routine you get bored, so try to challenge yourself often to not get stuck in a rut. Click To Tweet
