Do You Want to Live a Good Life?

Good does not mean perfect…

Please understand that, but it does mean that you have to work hard to maintain what you have and to obtain more. Everyone goes through problems and experience trials and tribulations, but it is not what you go through that is important; it is how you go through it and what you learned from what you are going through.
In July, my pastor AR Bernard started a series on John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” It was broken down as such (Abridged version…I have tons of notes on this)

Way– Manner of thinking, feeling, and deciding; path for spiritual journey
Truth-Transcendent fundamental reality; revealed truth opens understanding
Life– Identity in Christ; concept which produces meaning and purpose
This really stuck with me at this moment based on how I was living. I knew I wasn’t living my life the way God had ordained. “He came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Abundance not in the sense of obtaining material possessions, but abundance in the fruit that my life was bearing. I was living, but I knew that I could be doing more.
I kind of felt like I had “leveled off” and wasn’t living up to my full potential. In July of 2014 I had just earned my 2nd Master’s Degree. I had a new job and took a huge leap within my career. I have a supportive family, friends, and boyfriend. Some people would say, “Janique do you know how many people would love to live your life?” I’m like that’s great and all, but I knew I wasn’t living in my full capacity. It was hard to explain to those that I was close with how I actually felt because I could not put it in words. I didn’t want more regarding material things. I wanted do more for myself, but also other people. I wanted to share what I have learned and experience hoping to inspire other people.

So the last half of 2014, after I started my new position and up until the point where I’m writing this post, I knew that I needed to make a change. God was speaking to me on so many different levels and I finally decided to stop resisting him. It’s crazy how your life can be so much better when you are obedient to God (duh right?). We resist God in our lives for a number of reasons. Some include: FOMO (fear of missing out)- based on what people who are on a different level or stage of life with respects to Jesus Christ and of course, our egos because we think we know better than God.
So that is just a small sample of what birthed JaniqueCambridge.com. A place where I can share with you things I love, hate, challenges, triumphs, risks, struggles, strengths, memories, and new learnings all while living unapologetically.

What does it mean to a good life unapologetically? It simply means living your best life at your full capacity, and not making excuses for things you want and how you feel.
So, this is different than HerGoodyBag (my first baby), which focused mainly on fashion and beauty. You can still expect things on fashion and beauty, but food, fitness, life, faith, motivation, inspiration, and real people. So Janique is this a Christian site? No, it’s a site written by a Christian woman who is not ashamed to share her life’s journey.
I want this to be a new community where you talk about how you are living “The GOOD Life” unapologetically. So leave comments, send emails, and connect on social media.
