Style| 3 Ways to “Sweeten” Up Your Day

Let’s face it, some days you just want to stay in bed all day instead of going out “adulting.” When those days come around I for some reason put the least amount of effort into how I look. That is exactly what you DON’T want to do. If you are already feeling “blah” and “meh” why do you want to look that way? When I do have those mornings I at least put on some eyeliner and fill in my brows so I won’t look dead lol (You’d be surprised how eyeliner, mascara, and a brow pencil could change your life). It’s funny, when I don’t wear at least the basics listed above students at my school will say, “Wow you look dry” or ask, “Is everything ok?” My personal favorite, “Looks like you had a rough morning.” Oh the joys of working in a high school.


When you are stuck in a rut and need a little pick me up in a hurry throughout your day here are three ways you can improve your mood and ‘sweeten up your day’:

1. Put on a bold lipstick– 95% of the time I have my cosmetic bag with the essentials and a bold lipstick is definitely in there. Lipstick can easily spice up your face and look. I know some people aren’t “into lipstick” (I don’t judge), but try putting on your favorite gloss or even a lip stain to add some color. Color brightens up everything 🙂
2. Pick a Sweet Scent- I love perfume. I’ve always loved perfume, even back to my high school days wearing Victoria’S Secret and Bath and Body spray lol (I know those aren’t perfumes, but you get the idea). I ALWAYS ask for samples of perfume to leave in my car or cosmetic bag, or to simply take with me while traveling. When I’m wearing one of my favorite scents, my mood instantly changes. If I don’t have samples, I usually pack one or two travel size perfumes to use when I need a pick me up.
3. Indulge in chocolate or your guilty sweet pleasure of choice. If you are really my friend, you know that I am not a fan of chocolate (What??). I don’t like chocolate cake or ice cream, but I do however really enjoy dark chocolate (70% or better). This is one of the healthiest snacks you can eat and not feel guilty. I like the Lindt assortment with sea salt and I’ve tried dark chocolate with chili’s. Don’t over indulge though, one or two pieces should be enough. Dark chocolate has great benefits.
