Life| 31 Things I’ve Learned Before Turning 32

Today is my birthday *Insert Happy Dance Here* and as I sit pool side in Puerto, Morelos-Mexico listening to Solange’s album “A Seat at the Table” I decided to write this post. At some point during the year when I was 29 I said to myself, “I cannot wait until I’m in my 30s.” My twenties were an interesting time period. I was trying to figure things out regarding my relationship with God, my finances, my relationships, my career, and so many other things. I thought in my 30s it would be better and that I would have  figured it out. Ummmmm yeah that’s not the case. The last two years have been hard, probably the hardest I’ve ever experienced because I wanted to do things my way and not God’s way. 2016 has definitely been a roller coaster for many areas of my life. I was like, “Janique, what is your life about?” I always say this to my students that are doing things they shouldn’t be doing. I was now in that position with Jesus.

People that know me are probably like, “Girl your life is good. You don’t have anything to worry about or complain about.” So with that, I start my list of 31 Things I’ve Learned Before Turning 32
  1. You don’t know someone’s struggles or battles, so do not tell them how they should feel.
  2. “Comparison is the thief of joy.”
  3. Faith over fear. Live fearlessly and boldly.
  4. If you want to do something, do it. Don’t wait for other people because it won’t happen.
  5. Travel and #seesomeworld.
  6. Laugh often and love hard.
  7. Cherish your loved ones. Let them know you appreciate them while they are here.
  8. Show compassion to those in need.
  9. Let go and Let God.
  10. FORGIVE YOURSELF.
  11. Stop overthinking.
  12. Work hard, play hard.
  13. Mistakes are some of life’s greatest teachers.
  14. Lose weight for you.

  16. Invest in your future.
  17. Don’t spend serious time on casual people.
  18. Everyone is not going to approve of your decisions.
  19. Live life for you and do what makes you happy (As long as it’s legal :))
  20. Help others in need.
  21. Never stop learning, never stop teaching.
  22. If there is something that you want, but it doesn’t exist CREATE IT.
  23. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
  24. Eat the cupcake.

  26. Take risks-responsibly.
  27. Enjoy your own company (If you don’t like you, how could anyone else?).
  28. Learn to swim (literally and figuratively).
  29. Ask for help (A closed mouth does not get fed).
  30. Learn the power of NO.
  31. Don’t force pieces that don’t fit. If you have to force it, leave it.
